Something not working, or not sure how a feature works? Start with the User Guide — it covers every feature in the app. If that doesn't answer it, email me directly.
The SureNotes User Guide documents the whole app: importing charts, building setlists, running a show in Performance Mode, pedal and Apple Pencil control, the tuner and metronome, backups, and more.
Most questions are answered there, and it's faster than waiting on a reply.
SureNotes is made by one person, so replies aren't instant — but every email is read and answered.
These four things let me reproduce almost anything, and including them up front usually saves a round trip:
A screenshot or screen recording helps more than anything else, especially for something visual.
All purchases go through Apple. I never see your payment details and I can't process refunds — Apple handles both.
| What you want | Where to do it |
|---|---|
| Cancel a subscription | iOS Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions |
| Request a refund | reportaproblem.apple.com |
| See what you're paying for | iOS Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions |
| Restore a purchase on a new iPad | SureNotes → Settings → Restore Purchases |
If a subscription lapses, nothing is deleted. Your library stays exactly as it is. Paid features are restricted until you resubscribe, and the app tells you which ones.
Almost always the pedal going dormant, not SureNotes. Most Bluetooth pedals sleep after a period of inactivity, and the press that wakes the pedal is spent waking it — it never reaches the app as a page turn. Press again and everything works normally.
No app can prevent this: iPadOS owns the Bluetooth connection to a keyboard-style pedal, so SureNotes never sees the lost press. The timeout varies by model — PageFlip and Donner units sleep after about 30 minutes, while some budget pedals (the Yueyinpu/Tavsou K24-01 among them) sleep after roughly 3 minutes and offer no way to change it. Three minutes is short enough to fire between songs.
If page turns are critical to your show, a pedal with a longer timeout is the fix. See Bluetooth Pedal & Keyboard in the guide.
That's not dormancy and I want to hear about it. Please email me with your pedal's make and model, which control scheme you're using (Settings → Pedal Control Scheme), and whether it happens in Reader, Performance Mode, or both.
Everything you put into SureNotes lives on your iPad. There's no account and nothing is uploaded — see the Privacy Policy for detail.
That means backups are worth taking. SureNotes → Settings → Export Backup writes a single file you can keep anywhere: Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, a USB drive.
Before a gig that matters, it's worth exporting one.
Export a backup from the old iPad, then restore it on the new one from SureNotes → Settings. Restoring your purchase is separate — use Restore Purchases, same Apple Account.
Genuinely welcome. SureNotes is built for working musicians and a lot of what's in it came from players saying what they actually needed on stage. Same address: support@surenotesapp.com.
